Sexually transmitted infections are among the most common diseases affecting the genital area. They are caused by microorganisms that multiply in the mucous membranes of the urogenital tract, causing inflammation and unpleasant symptoms. In both women and men, these infections can be asymptomatic, yet lead to serious complications such as infertility, chronic pelvic pain, or an increased risk of infection with other pathogens.

The most common symptoms of intimate infections are
🌢 in women: unusual vaginal discharge, unpleasant odor, itching, burning, discomfort during intercourse, pain in the lower abdomen,
🌢 in men: pain or burning during urination, purulent discharge from the urethra, swelling and tenderness of the penis.

Please note that these symptoms may overlap, and some infections develop without obvious symptoms – therefore, laboratory diagnostics are crucial. The test detects the presence of DNA from four major pathogens responsible for sexually transmitted diseases:

➡️“ data-src=”https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/svg/27a1.svg“ data-was-processed=”true Chlamydia trachomatis – causes chlamydia, one of the most common sexually transmitted bacterial infections,
➡️“ data-src=”https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/svg/27a1.svg“ data-was-processed=”true Neisseria gonorrhoeae – the bacterium responsible for gonorrhea,
➡️“ data-src=”https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/svg/27a1.svg“ data-was-processed=”trueMycoplasma genitalium – a microorganism causing inflammation of the urethra, cervix, or fallopian tubes,
 ➡️“ data-src=”https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/svg/27a1.svg“ data-was-processed=”trueTrichomonas vaginalis – a protozoan that causes trichomoniasis.

The molecular test (Real-Time PCR) is highly sensitive and specific, enabling the detection of infection even at an early stage. This allows for rapid treatment and avoids dangerous health complications.

Instructions for collecting material for testing

IMPORTANT! The test material must be collected in accordance with the instructions. Incorrect collection will result in the need to pay for a new kit to be sent again.

Contents of the collection kit

The collection kit contains:
  • Two instructions for collecting test material – for women and for men
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Zipper bag
  • FEMALE swab (Vagina) – regular type
  • MALE swab (penis) – flexible type
  • Test tube with transport medium (plus sticker code)
  • Molecular testing order form (plus sticker code)
  • “Keep this number” card (plus sticker code)
  • Courier envelope
  • Waybill for return shipment

The return courier shipment is prepaid. The biological material sample should be returned in a rigid box; the genXone folder can be used for this purpose. If the folder is lost or damaged, it should be replaced with another package.

Information about test results

Test completion time: up to 7 business days from the date of delivery of the material to the laboratory

How do I calculate when the result will be ready?

The waiting time for laboratory test results is specified in business days, which means that Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays are not included. This time begins on the day the sample is delivered to the laboratory.

Example: If the sample arrives at the laboratory on Wednesday and there are no public holidays during the week, the result will be ready for collection by the following Friday at the latest.

Will I wait exactly as many working days as specified above?
The time given is the maximum time. It is possible that the result will be ready for collection earlier. We will inform you about the availability of the result by email.
Factors beyond the control of the genXone laboratory may affect the waiting time. In such situations, the patient will be informed about the extended waiting time.
How can I receive my results?
The result is collected online via the platform wyniki.genxone.eu platform.
Can I receive the results in another language than Polish?
The laboratory documentation is kept in Polish, therefore the results are issued in that language. If you need documentation in another language, we recommend contacting a certified translator.
