Detection and identification of DNA from 6 unicellular endoparasites – protozoa:
Giardia lamblia (intestinal giardia) Entamoeba histolytica (Red amoeba) Cryptosporidium parvum Blastocystis hominis Dientamoeba fragilis Cyclospora cayetanensisGastrointestinal infections caused by protozoa are often asymptomatic, whilst those with symptoms are chronic and invasive. The incubation period for these infections is longer than for bacterial and viral infections. Living within the human body, parasites seek to create the best conditions for their own reproduction; they will therefore not seek to kill their host. This is why it is sometimes difficult to link changes in the body’s functioning to protozoan infection
In this test, we use the multiplex Real-Time PCR technique, which is a molecular method based on the amplification and detection of genetic material from pathogenic microorganisms. A single test identifies the genetic material of six endoparasites (protozoa), which significantly reduces the waiting time for results. This approach also enables the detection of co-infections, i.e. infections caused by two or more pathogens simultaneously. The Real-Time PCR technique is also characterised by very high sensitivity, allowing for the identification of pathogens even at low infection levels, even below the detection threshold of standard microscopic methods. The sample material is stool.
The self-collection kit contains:

- sample collection tube with transport medium and swab
- instructions for taking a swab in Polish
- courier envelope
- waybill
- molecular testing request form.
The return courier delivery is prepaid. The biological sample should be returned in a rigid box; the genXone folder may be used for this purpose. If the folder is lost or damaged, it must be replaced with alternative packaging.
