The protozoa and intestinal parasites panel is performed using Real-Time PCR and identifies protozoa and intestinal helminths:

Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, Cryptosporidium spp., Blastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Cyclospora cayetanensis, Ancylostoma spp., Ascaris spp., Enterobius vermicularis, Enterocytozoon spp./Encephalitozoon spp., Hymenolepis spp., Necator americanus, Strongyloides spp, Taenia spp., Trichuris trichiura.

In this test, we use the multiplex Real-Time PCR technique, which is a molecular method based on the amplification and detection of the genetic material of pathogenic microorganisms. A single analysis identifies the genetic material of 7 unicellular endoparasites (protozoa) and 8 multicellular endoparasites (helminths), which significantly reduces the waiting time for results. This approach also allows for the detection of co-infections, i.e. infections caused by two or more pathogens simultaneously. The Real-Time PCR technique is also characterised by very high sensitivity, so it allows for the identification of pathogens even at low infection levels, even below the detection threshold of standard microscopic methods. Such precise diagnosis of specific pathogens allows for the right decision to be made regarding the patient’s treatment. Read more about the Real-Time PCR method.

The sample material is stool.

The self-collection kit contains:

  • disposable toilet seat cover
  • disposable nitrile gloves
  • sample collection tube with transport medium and swab
  • instructions for taking a swab in Polish
  • courier envelope
  • waybill
  • molecular testing request form.

The return courier delivery is prepaid. The biological sample should be returned in a rigid box; the genXone folder may be used for this purpose. If the folder is lost or damaged, it must be replaced with alternative packaging.

Instructions for collecting material for testing

IMPORTANT! The sample must be collected in accordance with the instructions. Incorrect collection will result in the need to pay for a new kit to be sent.

Information about test results

Test turnaround time: up to 7 working days from the date the sample is received by the laboratory

How do I work out when the results will be ready?
The waiting time for laboratory test results is measured in working days, which means that Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not included. This period begins on the day the sample is delivered to the laboratory.
Example: If the sample arrives at the laboratory on a Wednesday and there are no public holidays that week, the result will be ready for collection by the following Friday at the latest.

Will I have to wait exactly the number of working days stated above?
The time stated is the maximum. It is possible that the result will be ready for collection earlier. We will notify you by email when the result is available. Factors beyond the control of the genXone laboratory may affect the waiting time. In such situations, we will inform the patient of the extended waiting time.

How can I collect my results?

Results can be collected online via the platform wyniki.genxone.eu.

Can I receive my results in another language?
The laboratory documentation is kept in Polish, therefore the results are issued in that language. If you need documentation in another language, we recommend contacting a certified translator.
